well that was a fun evening. neighbour's dogs got out, and into the goat pen. there was some biting, but the goats are probably ok.

I however had an arm covered in goat blood, and for once not for religious reasons.
Had a goat come up to the house, which is a first. M went to bring her back down, and yelled for me to come. Two giant St. Bernards in there. One goat standing on a big log, the other wedged into a little notch in another big log. I - being an idiot - pretended like the dogs were really nice and my best friends, and went into the goat paddock hooked leashes on them both, and led them out, hoping they didn't have a taste for blood. M took the two injured goats off to the vets, they got some stitches, and are generally pretty stressed out right now, but seem ok. Seems it's the third time they've escaped and attacked livestock in the year they've lived here. I don't think they'll be around much longer. I'm a little surprised nobody shot them in the previous two. Enjoy your $1,000 - $20,000 fine, fucker.
I think heat is the only thing that saved them. Dogs were massively heat-stressed when I got them out. If it wasn't 40C today (and they weren't massive shaggy fucking St. Bernards in Australia), I think we'd have dead goats.
