Well before that.
I think Winston does what is hinted at. He creates a well-run, serious Ghostbusters firm. Maybe franchises the tech out and that opens up the possibility of a series of movies with various casts that then get an Avengers-style film to address a big bad threat hinted at in the individual films.
No more Gozer, or Shandor. Maybe Terror Dogs and Marshmallow Men, but I'd argue against making either a big part of any film.
Might even be able to create a "time rip" that brings the female-led film into the original's universe for a crossover.
