I can confirm with my platonic nephew (experienced maritime lawyer), but I think Strongbad is right. Salvage is salvage. Flotsam, jetsam, ...


Intact cargo, whole ships, whatever. IIRC from my admiralty law class in law school, the definition of "salvage" was along the lines of "any ships, goods, or other objects and items not under human possession, control, or direction." Something rhythmic anyway.

A sunken ship would be considered a "wreck."
