well. so i gave it a shot. i really did....

leave work and drive 20 minutes to the train to pick up gf who leaves work 2 hours early so we can vote, drive 20 minutes back to voting place. go in to vote.....hardly any lines! go to check in at the table for my ward. neither girlfreind nor i are on the rolls for our address or street. weird, we sent in the voter registration cards that town sent TO OUR HOUSE.

go to table where they straighten out problems. they check our id's, lady goes off to make a call. wait 10 minutes. she eventually comes back and says good news! we're on the rolls with the town, only instead of having us at the proper number and street, they have us at the same number only at a street named "park circle" instead of park st. but.....even though we have gone to the proper voting place for our address, because they've got it botched on the rolls we can't vote there. we need to go over to south attleboro a good 20-25 minutes away to find the location there for voting for the place we don't live that they have us registered under. oh, but they don't have a map to give us to tell us where it is. and no, there's no way we can vote here at our right ward for our right address, even though that's where we sent our voter reg cards in from. the lady then starts to give vague directions on where we are supposed to go to, and then we just say forget it, if you can't manage to get us registered correctly and can't let us vote at the ward we live in even though we've done everything properly from our end, then we just aren't voting.

thus ends my 2008 encounter with democracy.
