I thought that weekly made sense for another reason.

You release it all at once and someone can finish in a day or two. Then they may drop their subscription. You spread it out over 10 weeks, that's 3 months you've kept viewers subscribed.

Netflix drops their big shows last Friday (or last day) of the month for a similar reason. Closer to the end of the month the popular shows are released the more likely someone needs to subscribe the next month to finish watching.
