The Twitterverse is not at all reflective of the country as a whole but it’s what matters to who is in government.

Because that’s where they and the media are too. It becomes a feedback loop not unlike what the right has with Fox.
I certainly don’t agree with Yglesias on many things but he’s covered it fairly well here.
