It crossed my mind that he could have a physical ailment, or just looking at his own aging and thinking about his legacy for the 'why now' -- (edited)

It doesn't necessarily have to be that he's been diagnosed with something (though it crossed my mind as a possibility). He'll be 70 this year. We all know how those 'big birthdays' can drive a personal crisis (just not necessarily....this type of crisis. Like, get a tattoo or go skydiving dude)
