Can't call him a 'friend,' but our paths have crossed every couple years since I lived in DC.

He's most famous for the McCormick & Schmick's restaurant empire (and was personally responsible for their opening in Washington, DC) and for being ambassador to New Zealand during the early 2000's (which is where I met him for the first time, at an embassy function).
He's kind of a guy I aspire to be. He's the type of guy you could spend 5 hours chatting with on a cross-country flight and he would never even hint at being such a high-powered person.
