I can't imagine Putin's ego will let him pull back.

There's no real face-saving way for this to end for him. He wanted a couple of provinces and ended up at war with a very determined Ukraine and a NATO pulling together instead of infighting. And Russian allies refusing to lend support.

It's looking, currently, like he way overplayed his hand.
