Ukraine had to hold out long enough for the world community to come together.

If they’d collapsed immediately, the world would have objected but then moved on to another phase of “how to we make the Russians get to their endgame ASAP so we can all move on”.

Now weapons and volunteers are flooding into Ukraine. Sanctions are ramping up. I can’t think of how it could have gone worse for Putin.
