I've always thought of that as the catch-22 of being the fan of an act. One hopes that they do well but at the same time if they do well there's only

going to be the fond memories of "I remember when I saw them at that tiny venue" and the difficult of choice of whether or not to pay more and put up with the hassles of seeing them at the deserved larger venue
