This is modern school. Everything that used to be included has been cut and it's mostly pay to play.

We face that constantly. It used to be included but levies fail so schools cut stuff to get under the budget but the expenses are still there so they are passed directly to the participants.

There are schools around me where kids are paying hundreds of dollars to participate in sports or other extra curriculars.

In HS I played 2 varsity sports, and essentially blacklisted from both since I didn't play each one year round. Killed a lot of sports interest for me - MDH Mar 7, 11:33 6
