You're right. AT&T doesn't want to be in the TV game. AT&T doesn't own Uverse any more. They spun it off as part of the divestiture of DirecTV.

It's all an independent company now under the DirecTV banner with satellite and fiber, but really they want you to subscribe to their over-the-top streaming service, DirecTV Now.
