For comparison, here are the first Mondays for other big March openers:
Batman vs. Superman - $15.04 million (aided by the Monday after Easter mini-holiday)
Beauty and the Beast - $13.53 million
Captain Marvel - $10.98 million
Hunger Games - $10.82 million
Alice in Wonderland - $9.01 million
Batman vs. Superman isn't a good comparison since it's a holiday. The Monday number is 18.7% less than Beauty and the Beast while the 3-day weekend number was 23.3% less BatB. That shows it's gaining on a $500 million film.
Even though, The Batman 3-day weekend was 12.2% and 12.66% less than The Hunger Games and Captain Marvel respectively. It's already slightly ahead of both of those films by Monday.
The Batman was 13.35% ahead of Alice in Wonderland going into the weekend, and was 18.2% ahead of its Monday number.
What does this tell us?
The Batman will almost certainly make more money from this point forward than Captain Marvel, Hunger Games or Alice in Wonderland did. It may rival what Beauty and the Beast did from here but we need more data for that.
Out of the three films that we're pretty sure The Batman will out-leg, Captain Marvel made the most from this point on: another $262.43 million. The Batman has made $145 million so far. Adding those totals together gives The Batman a floor of $407.43 million domestically.
Will it 100% make that total or more domestically? No. Is it a very good bet it will? (at least 80% to 90%)? Yes.
