What's striking to me is that countries that were able to avoid Covid for the most part got hammered by Omicron.

Canada, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia all got crushed by Omicron even with strict to very strict precautions. That mixed with the data from the NY Times article tells me that what worked before doesn't now.
