Maybe... just maybe... when the economy contracts, so should the government.

I think that's one of the fundamental differences between the left and right... whether the gov't, in tough times, should expand to 'take up the slack' or tighten their belts along with the rest of us.
I mean, if unemployment rises, is it really better to raise taxes so you can expand benefits to the unemployed, or cut corporate taxes so companies will hire more people?
