I don't get the accusation of double standard (re Polanski), since we damn well know that Will Smith will get to keep his award

As he should, plenty of celebrities have done terrible things and got to keep their Oscars. Just because he did something bad DURING the Oscars shouldn't make a difference.
The whole article seems like a huge effort to add a racial component to the event. I very much doubt we wouldn't talk about the event if Benedict Cumberbatch had punched someone. Someone getting punched during a Live gala will lead to lots of press no matter who does it.
