I've no idea why I had it my head that Wet Leg wasn't going to be squarely in my musical interests. Maybe cause I'd only barely listened to the a couple of their singles. Maybe cause of the look they adopted for their first video. Perhaps a lack of musical imagination as to how those songs could be arranged / performed live.
It was louder, softer, more discordant at times, than I'd ever imagined and I was completely swept up after a couple of what felt like less than 2 minute songs to start their set.
I felt like I was at one of those glorious afternoon sets at Coachella for some act that I'd researched just enough to be at their set and they were amazing. Of course, nothing could be further from the truth as they've been hyped as much as act of late so they were supposed to be amazing....
Which I guess is probably as much endorsement that I can give them. Even with all the hype, I found them so good that it felt like I was discovering them
Oh...and the first part of the evening was pretty damn solid having started at Musso and Frank with great food and solid martinis.
