How annoyed/worried should I be? Our softball league is finally back this year, first time since 2019. -- (edited)

We have lost some players so we have some new ones joining - friends of existing players.
So, we have one couple joining us, which is great. The fees are $150 a person for the season. I am the team manager so i collect it all and *I* have to pay for the team in full by April 17.
These 2 new players, who i have yet to meet, emailed me today and asked if they can bring cash to our first game - on May 10th - because they 'don't like etransfers'. That's like saying "i don't like money." That is a solid 3 weeks after I will already have paid for them.
I don't even know them, they could very well just decide not to play etc - i have no idea if they are committed for the season - once someone pays, THAT's when I believe they plan to show up.
I sent a very nice email back asking if they were more comfortable mailing me a cheque (like it is 2001, but whatever) or we could meet up and i will take cash.
It's completely fair that i don't front them $300 bucks, right?
