In response to "quite a bit. but it's small stuff, Robert Wise trimmed a lot of the sitting around stuff...." by Peter Kilmer

Yep. I haven't noticed any major additions of material, but the movie does seem to "flow" much better. (maybe vague spoilers)

I'm going to compare this cut with the standard one currently streaming. From what I can tell, there is much more back story and "sitting around stuff" like Remlik said. The story isn't as choppy.

So far, it's kind of like the experience I had watching the full director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven. That cut is a sublimely gorgeously great movie; the theater release was more "meh, entertaining, but barely worth the cost of the movie ticket."

STTMP always slightly annoyed me when watching it. But I'm not annoyed at all with this viewing. It's solidly good, borderline great right now.
