Five people were shot, including a man who died, at a sports bar on Westheimer early Saturday, according to investigators.
A fight broke out around 12:50 a.m. between a group of people inside of Al’s Sports Bar in the 16200 block of Westheimer Road near Windgate Park Drive, said Harris County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Dennis Wolford.
“We observed what appeared to be an unprovoked assault on video,” Wolford said. “I don’t know what the history is between all these people at this time.”
The altercation moved outside in front of the bar, Wolford said, where several people pulled handguns.
“There were multiple shots exchanged at close range between at least three people,” said Wolford. “All three shooters were shot during that incident, as well as a couple of bystanders.”
Four were taken to the hospital, including two who were flown via Lifeflight. Two people were undergoing surgery Saturday morning, Wolford said, but were in stable condition.
All of the people involved in the shooting were in their 20s to early 30s, said Wolford.
The identity of the man who died during the gunfire exchange has not yet been released to the public.
