My little nerd heart got warmed today at the library. RC, you might appreciate this.

I'm now in charge of the coffee bar area. The patrons all think I got promoted as it comes with a big desk all to myself (but I really didn't get promoted, I just have a new set of duties).

Saturdays are slow but every Saturday a patron named Nathan will come in and set up a chess board and take on all willing players. Today though, in addition to Nathan, five teen boys came in took the big table. They pulled out paperwork, dice, and a GM screen. I thought "All right, I have some D&D players."

So for a time, my coffee bar contained one chess player and five D&D players. I thought "now this is starting to look like a library I'd hang out in"

Anyways, close to closing time I was cleaning in the computer lab and I heard the bell for the coffee bar. I went up and asked "Who rang the bell?" A kid replied "My brother did but he didn't want anything"

I called out "Mr. Dungeonmaster" The boy who was the DM said "Ye?" I said "If they ring the bell and don't need anything, they're -2 hit points for a week of game time"

He turned and looked at another kid and said "You're minus two HP for a week". The kid responed "that's okay, you don't really track hit points" The DM said "Okay, you're -3 HP for a week"

I was gratified to hear the bell ringer whine "BUT WHY?" as they all left through the library doors.
