My middle daughter - who dances competitively with her team - hurt her back a couple of weeks before the state championships.

With a considerable amount of Advil, she made it through the last couple of weeks and the state championships. She even toughed it out through our vacation a couple of weeks ago. She finally made it to her doctor’s appointment today, got some x-rays. Broken vertebrae. She’s probably never dancing again.

Oh, that is scary - and she *is* super tough! Kids heal amazingly though, and modern medicine can do a lot. Don't rule out dancing. -- nm

My boss was telling us how his buddy's daughter, about 10 years old or so and into multiple sports...broke her back.
