I've NEVER had laughing gas at the dentist, always get novacaine. I had all 4 wisdoms removed at once, they were fully impacted, required a chisel.

Not getting general anesthesia for wisdoms was my dad's decision, and he had the best intentions. He was concerned about the risk of general. I was on board. The experience did not go well at all, it was a mistake.
