In response to "Krusty News: footage from the 2001 Jay-z Hot 97 show has been released for the 1st time.... -- (link)" by Remlik

Holy shit! This is a video people have wanted to see for a long time. Hip hop fans are going to be talking about this for a few days. -- (edited)

To make a long story as short as possible, Jay Z had beef with Mobb Deep and Nas at this time. He wrote a song going at both of them and it was pretty hard.
This is the debut of the song. No one had heard it before this and he only has the first two verses. He would add a third verse that would reference this concert.

Some of the lyrics from the song are:
"You cats gonna learn to respect the king
Don't be the next contestant on that Summer Jam screen"

That's a reference to this concert that no one has seen unless they were here to see it live.
That reference is also to what he put up on the screen and that goes to another lyric in that song:
"I don't care if you Mobb Deep, I hold triggers to crews
You little, I got money stacks bigger than you
When I was pushing weight, back in '88
You was a ballerina, I got the pictures, I seen ya"

And at that point in the concert Jay put up pictures of Prodigy from Mobb Deep from when he was a kid and did ballet. The crowd laughed their ass off and Jay clowned him in front of thousands of NYers.

This is a video hip hop fans have been dying to see.
