In response to "We can't afford to make the subway work reliably but "Mayor moving ahead on metal detectors in subway system" -- (link)" by ty97

They'll do a study, install a couple at one station and then it'll never get any further. Many people will pocket millions. There are so many other

things we can do to make the subway safer, more reliable and to encourage ridership to return.

I'd love to see gates to prevent people and debris from getting on the tracks. Elevators and access for people with disabilities. Better cleaning and maintenance of the stations and not just the ones in Midtown or wealthy neighborhoods. If you could see the state of the station I live above you'd vomit.

We also need more trains per hour and faster trains overall. That means spending money on upgrading signals on more lines and to do it before the next decade rolls around. They need to get the work done faster.

There are so many things we can do to improve the subway and the service. Metal detectors is not one of them.
