I don't really see any feasible avenue for this inanity to simmer down over the next decade.

It's going to bubble on the surface for years. If we're lucky, it won't result in downfall.

At some point I might determine that I have had enough, and quit the internet cold turkey. And even that might not be enough to get away from it. Plus, that's kind of hard to do with the nature of my job at the moment.

But I am fundamentally disappointed in humanity over the past two years, and I don't see a way back from that.
