Netflix is going to do what it has with cracking down on shared accounts to get their overall subscribers numbers up for their stock price's health. But by doing that they may bring down the overall numbers of viewers they have.
For instance, if those 222 million accounts have, in reality, a total of 600 million viewers that inflates how much people see their shows.
If in cracking down on shared accounts, they get their subscriber number up to say 250 million, the stock will be very happy. But they may cut their actual viewership down to 500 million, 400 million or even 300 million.
It's not out of the realm of possibility that they increase subscribers while cutting the overall viewers number in half. Which could lead to a very different look to the weekly Nielsen ratings, their own Tuesday Top 10, and their monthly percentage for The Gauge.
