I'm saying to avoid this you don't turn left because, as this shows, it can be taken as a move to go to 2nd. He did turn left in this case and while

I don't think he showed intent to go to 2nd he did turn into the field.
Almost everyone turns into foul territory. And his 1st base coach thought something was up as he was pointing at the bag and didn't argue when he was called out.
I'm not saying it's a great call but it seems to be a by the book call.
