It wasn't. I loved season one; season 2 was objectively lousy.

Look at the story beats and how long each one got stretched out. They didn't have enough ideas, and they made each one three times as long as needed.
I won't mention names but one character argued absolutes about something in episode nine. Then, they turned around and did exactly the opposite in episode ten, stating they were sure it was the right thing to do.
This season had poor writing.
