and, uh, well, that might have been just seen statement of fact....
Cause my experience might be super niche as I might have been all but brainwashed in to loving the movie as loooooove airplanes / spacecraft and I was the perfect age to see that movie in the theaters (but not quite old enough to enlist and I was / am an Air Force dependent brat so uh, yeah no, to the Navy recruiters) but OMG.....
The opening with the synths soundtrack and then it's carrier and F-14 porn climaxing in a catapult take off................
Ok. Back after a needed moment....and in reflection apparently I wasn't as old as I remembered the first time I saw the movie at the downtown local theater.....cause I didn't have exactly that reaction when I saw it the first time ;-)
Oh....but point being...have you ever seen it as it was meant to be? On a 70 MM massive screen? Actually that's not how I saw it the first time but the second time I saw it was the so no there Waikiki old school, massive, single screen grand theater and it was in 70 mm, what I think was Dolby six strip magnetic and when those afterburners fired up and the whole theater shook.........
I adore the planes aspects of the movie and have come to enjoy the non-plane aspects and I even went saw the 3D re-master whenever that came out. I think Veronica kind of tolerated that but hey, at least she agreed to go see it with me 8-)
Oh....but that it is not all about me....wait, you want to see this one almost despite the original?
Uh, wut?
How?
You're excited to see this one? I guess that's what the studio / producers were betting on when they greenlit this way overdue sequel. But really?
