It feels like they're just making it up as they go along, which is an inherently silly comment to make about fiction, but you know what I mean. There really aren't any rules except when they make one up, but then you need to live by those rules and they don't. They just ignore them when it doesn't suit them. Like the scene where Strange is talking to the another universe's Strange and he tells them a story from his background that nobody else knows to prove it's really him. If there are an infinite number of universes, there are a massive number of universes where their background isn't the same. Where there is no sister. So the scene makes no sense. There are also many other universes that destroy themselves for other reasons. Why care about any of them when each choice just creates other universes with different outcomes? The only movie that did this halfway decently was Everything Everywhere All at Once which basically acknowledged that the result of the multiverse is that nothing matters.
