In response to "I think my big issues with Doctor Strange are (spoils) -- (edited)" by TWuG

Counterpoints (spoilers)

1) I've known Darkhold-possessed Wanda was the villain for la calendar year. So, that might have saved me some of the frustration others are feeling.

2) Mordo isn't bad. He's part of the Illuminati. He just happens to dislike Strange, who went crazy in his world. So, that's 100% justifiable. It's also in line with some of the DC stories where Luthors are heroes in places where Superman is evil.

3) The Darkhold is driving his decision-making. So, 2 and 3 are things you may not like, but they're 100% supported in the story.

4) Given what happens at the end of the story, I'm unclear why people think Chavez has zero agency. She's young and inexperienced, and this is her origin story. She grows into her powers and takes control at the end. That's how these stories always work. If you want to say it's unoriginal, I'd buy that, but she takes agency.

As for the other part, the Illuminati and the other Christine Palmer aren't evil at all. Invaders from another universe show up and wreck their realm. They're right to have concerns, especially given what they say has happened to them in 818.

5) The fight was awesome. That's top tier MCU stuff, especially what happened with Black Bolt and Mr. Fantastic. In fact, I loved that the men died instantly, while the women went toe to toe with Darkhold Witch for a time.

6) Raimi wanted to do something with his friend. I thought it went on a bit long in the first scene, but he wanted to do the end bit. He's given me so much enjoyment over the years that I'll let it slide. If we rewind many years, I said the same thing about Spider-Man jazz hands, which is MUCH stupider.

7) People across the internet are missing an essential point. That wasn't Wanda. That was the Darkhold Witch. Wanda was the woman Professor Xavier found trying to claw her way out of a cave in her mind. That Wanda eventually provided enough of a fight that others were able to subdue the Darkhold. And let's not sleep on the fact that the Darkhold is so formidable that it gave Strange a third eye. Twice.

Again, you can argue the story lacks originality, but that's another common storytelling trope in play. Something enslaves a good person and puppeteers their body for a while before the hero eventually regains control. That's what we witnessed here.

Wanda's next story will be all about the ramifications of Westview, the Multiverse, and her imprisonment by the Darkhold. We'll see that with House of Harkness as well, as the same thing happened to Agatha. There's definitely a plan in place and rules for Darkhold possession.
