The Cave Wanda was the alt-Universe Wanda that Prime Wanda/Scarlet Witch/Darkhold Wanda was puppeting from her seat in the Darkhold temple.
Cave Wanda was dressed the same as puppeted Alt-Wanda and Prof X was trying to get her to throw off the puppeting and help him send SW/DH Wanda out of his universe.
That's the read I got from that scene. If that's not the intended Raimi read then it's another point of storytelling failure in the film.
The writing was pedestrian. Nothing exciting or innovate or novel about it. Which was a huge disappointment after WandaVision.
To be clear, though, I love that Wanda is not a clear cut hero. I love that she is a sympathetic villain. But this movie was meh and wasted a lot of opportunity to explore Strange as a character in counterpoint to Wanda as a character
Just a complete miss in storytelling with lots of good ideas handled poorly.
I know I'd love to see more alt-Captain Marvel and more Captain Carter. I haven't checked casting, but if Krasinsky isnt Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic in the FF film, that's a huge miss, because he was perfect.
