LIR Krusty Japan isn't a republic, neither was the Ottoman Empire or Zhou. And Roger More, my comment was meant more as a joke.

Plenty of empires have lasted longer than 300 years. But few democratic republics. Zhou was a feudal system, Japan is a unitary state and constitutional monarchy, and the Ottoman Empire ranged from monarchy, Unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy and dictatorship.
But yes the US is seemingly collapsing on itself due to stupidity and infighting. Throw in a heaping spoonful of racism, sexism, and other -isms and I wouldn't be surprised if the US doesn't collapse at some point, or at least severely shift. Or have another civil war.
I'm not saying this will happen, just that I would not be surprised. Which is why it's super important to vote and not be complacent.
