If we take Brexit as a given, it becomes a choice between border controls between NI and Ireland, or between NI and Great Britain.
There's also a fudge where the UK stays in the single market and accepts its rules, but that negates the purpose of Brexit.
Post-Brexit, I'm not sure what solutions there are.
