FWIW, I have been diagnosed with clinical depression before. -- (edited)

I never took meds, primarily because my mother always insisted that I never take drugs of any sort.
Instead, what I was recommended by a therapist was to do all the things that make me happy and not worry about what anyone else would think.
I actually disliked that therapist and only went to three sessions (or maybe two?). However, that advice was really good.
So, while I was going through my divorce, I played a lot of video games and hung out on TT. That led to the creation of The-Prophets and BOP and many of the sources of happiness in my life.
I've never met anyone who went through life without struggling with depression at some point. It's pretty much the cost of doing business for humanity. We're all going to suffer some.
Kim will tell you that when Jack-Jack died last year, I was absolutely blank for like six weeks. Even after we got the new cats, I still went through random crying jags. For a time, I was genuinely worried I would never write again. He'd sat with me for about 10 million words. Learning to move past that was harder than losing Dad for me because I'd had 17 years to make peace with my father's cancer.
We all go through stuff. I'm always impressed by anyone who knows they need a hand and aren't afraid to ask for it. That's why we so often say that Kim and I are here if anyone needs to talk.
For example, some of you are having fun with the "I told you so" elements of the recent crypto setback. I was talking to someone today who owned 100,000 Luna. It was worth $8.6 million last week and zero today. I cannot imagine what that person is feeling. Some of the comments from owners broke my heart because these people were in so much pain.
People suffer every day, but it's rarely the sort of thing we're seeing in the Ukraine. Instead, it's more of the "I don't feel fulfilled in my life and need more" variety. Thankfully, as a people, we are generally getting better at this sort of thing, primarily because the next two generations are smarter and more sympathetic than Gen X and Boomers.
