I get by just with the 240volt outlet. Decided I didn't need the smart charger. -- nm

Gotta like that Ford gives you a level 2 option with the car. 32 amps from a portable. You definitely don't need a smart charger -- nm

Listen to Reagen. If you're charging overnight a 50 amp circuit is more than sufficient.

Fair point. We considered this since someday we'll have two EVs, but it's also unlikely that both world need to charge at the same time -- nm*

When we looked our panel could handle 100A so that’s what we were going to wire.

Things you need: a 240/220V plug. A circuit that can handle the amps.

You don’t need this for a garage though right? You can just plug into a wall outlet.

Correct. Both our PHEV and the EV came with a standard wall outlet charger. It is very slow though. My EV goes 20%-80% in 26h on it -- (edited)

If you have a 240v outlet it should be faster than that. Is that just on plain 110v? -- nm

Sorry, yes. Kia only provides standard wall outlet (110) chargers -- nm

We don't have a 240 in the garage (only laundry) so that is whats getting installed next week -- nm

Though if you can get away with charging slower it's better for battery life. -- nm
