I've been slowly working on the "smarts". The kitchen is pretty well situated now

- Can do the "Let's cook" voice command to turn on all relevant lights including under counter LED
- One smart switch now also activates all those lights
- Motion sensor by the sink between the island and the range will turn on the under counter LEDs dimly after 9pm
Installed a door sensor in the pantry now so that it consistently turns on/off the pantry light with the door opening and closing
Next project is probably the hall light/garage interior light. I think I'm going to need to install Home Assistant though as it is an unusual combination of triggers and sensors. Basically I want the hall light leading to the garage to turn on both when the door into the house is opened when entering the home (that's the trick) and also by motion in the home. Similarly, I want the light in the garage to turn on when the door into the garage is opened from the inside but off when closed when you are in the house
I think I can do it with two motion sensors and the door sensor (perhaps in combination with the smart garage door opener). It is a bit trickier because the door has a weighted hinge that automatically closes it so most of the action will also need a time delay
