Do it anyway. If you can't explain why it's a net good, you're in the wrong game. Naysayers will demonize it regardless

Don't do it: "Can't keep a campaign promise".
Do too little: "Insulting and barely helpful"
Max it: "Why give a handout to the wealthy?" or "Why forgive this debt and not other debt".
Do the right thing because the criticism is coming regardless.
