Okay, ST, if you'd like to know why I'm asking about t-shirts, please check the IM. -- (edited)

I've had these questions buzzing around in my head after chatting with to zork and tRu over Discord last Friday.

Why can't anyone find a way to effectively combat the NRA's extremism?

Why can't anyone out there find a way to connect with and organize that mushy middle of "sensible gun owners" who **want** to be regulated. Effectively, sensibly, rationally, of course, but who don't mind good regulations; they just don't want to be over-regulated.

The ones who understand that vehicle regulations limit our Constitutional liberties of Freedom of Association. We have the rights to own and operate cars and trucks after being properly licensed and insured. If those regulations are practical, sensible, and acceptable, then there has to be a group out there that could come up with practical, sensible, and acceptable regulations for firearms, too.

Where do we find those people? How do we get them together? How do we come up with those ideas as a group?

If we can do that, then we can start working with allies and stakeholders, other advocacy groups and lobbyists, other organizations and advocates.

We just need to start with good ideas and find good people to work with. That's how these things start.

Congress obviously cannot act on these issues, but we can find the people who can. We can at least try to put this maxim into effect: When the People Lead, the Leaders Will Follow.

We can do that if someone out there would just start an advocacy group out there? Why isn't anyone doing it?

And then I talked to a friend of mine who said: "You're asking the wrong question. You need to be asking yourself why YOU aren't doing it."

I couldn't come up with a good answer to that question, so here I am.

If you want to review my nascent concept, please click the link below.

I did set this up so anyone with the link could access the Google Doc and review it as a Commenter, so please be careful sharing this link. I'm more than happy to get ST's review (I'd be grateful for any feedback), but for a lot of reasons, I'm keeping this close to me for now.

And I do ask you to type your name to acknowledge that you will strive to keep this secret. :-) :-)
