I noticed it's not playing ads for me on desktop right now (even through the player bar has markers for the ads).

Also, my ad blocker said it wouldn't play the movie unless I disabled it, so I disabled it.
When I've watched it on my TV (this is where I watched Whale Rider after David recommended it), there were definitely ads.
