So this is the last week of school for my oldest kid, a junior in high school.

As previously mentioned, she’s signed up to work at the summer camp programs on campus. It’ll be her first job. The training is insane. She’s having to do all the same employee training I had to do because she literally becomes an employee of the university at that point. It’s not like it was a competitive hiring process. They’ll probably fill only 80% of the positions they want to fill. And though my kid is great with kids (she’s done two rotations in the early childhood development program in high school where they run a literal daycare), she wanted to work in the office at the camp (and got her wish). To the point:
- Every day this week (which apparently still involves finals in school) after school she has to bike to campus and do about 5 hours of training. She’s clocking something like 12-13 hour days all week. But I guess she’s enjoying her training because today - as the camp coordinator told me - she asked if she could be moved to working full time this summer (YEP!)
