Judge Conner tried the first federal case that was shown on television, a suit charging copyright infringement on photographs of the late actor James Dean. He also ruled that the Marx Brothers' rights to the exclusive use of their distinctive personae they had created descended to their estates in a case involving the Broadway musical "A Day in Hollywood, a Night in the Ukraine."
