I understand his context ... the Obama tweet says the SC overruled 50 years of precendent...as though that's the story. -- (edited)

In 1954, the SC overruled 57 years of precedent in overturning Plessy v Ferguson ...
so the story shouldn't be the overturning of a case as much as the removal of a previously established right.
