In early 2020, my boss begrudgingly called me cause the facilities manager had seen me walking out the door with a surplus monitor..."You've got to tell somebody you're doing something like that"
8 working days later, the office shut down....I wasn't stealing the monitor, I was setting up a home office.
Dammit...your co-worker is supposed to be the generation who's really good at this. We dealt with tape drives...wait...no that oversells it...cassette tape storage, insanely expensive floppy drives and associated media (which is why we hole punched the edge to use both sides!), all types of essentially hacks for special bootloaders, HIMEM commands, memory managers (I think they worked?) Monochrome displays and if color there was the infamous RF converter that I embarassingly realized only recently was a digital to analog converter and 'broadcast' on a direct connection basis to the TV
