If your schedule allows as well as work out space, I'd recommend a few minutes after class to focus on pull ups

Knowing that pull-ups were essentially kryptonite to me, I started to spend about ten minutes after class working on them. A particularly kind and helpful instructor told me to do negative work. I got a small platform and jumped up to the bar in the completed pull up position. Chin over bar, arms contacted. Then as slow as I could, I let myself down to arms fully extended (relaxed). Repeat the sequence for as long as I had time / arms held up.

The concept being is that the arms are still working on the necessary strength but as opposed to not seeing the full range of motion cause you can't pull yourself over the bar, you start there and then fight gravity at least on the way down.

My experience is that as non-common sense as the exercise appears, it plus the normal workouts totally worked. I could actually do 3-5 strict pull ups.

My un-coordinated ass never, ever figured out the kipping version so while I know that's a cross fit cheat, it was actually easier for me to them strict. My scaling was different levels of bands.
