Polymetric exercise particularly helpful with explosive movements like, well, jumping. More generally good lower body exercise as long as joints

and muscles are up to the high impact nature of the exercise.

Perhaps only applicable to me, it was one of the exercises that when part of a timed workout, was a good reminder that when tired, take a breath and focus, A second or two to slow down and prep to jump up on the box could save several minutes / pain in missing the jump. The super specific goal of landing on that box vs the various forms of failure.....get super tired and at least I kind of forgot about the consequences and with lack of focus, did all type of fails, jump not high enough, jump not evenly off of a two feet, jump high enough botch the landing.

Any of those fail modes really sucked ;-)
