Gutting the administrative bureaucracy seems completely in line with core conservative ideology. Romney might not go as far as others might in terms of predicating appointments specifically on political loyalty, but I don’t see him as so far outside the mainstream of conservative thought as to reject the concept of Schedule F as a whole. You think as president he wouldn’t take the Heritage Foundation, et al’s, calls? Not that he’d have any chance of winning the nomination in today’s GOP anyway.
