I think that if something's in the game, it's fair game. It'd take 20 hours to beat Halo 2 on LASO without skips. Too much could go wrong.

This was considered the hardest challenge in video games for a reason. Even with the skips, you still have a character with virtually no health facing enemies whose health has been spiked by a factor of 5-10x.
